Some of the trips described in RealTravelAdventures.com were free "fam" trips. However, as professional writers, we never write what, in our opinion, is not a true evaluation of a place. If we do not like a place we visit we say so, or we simply do not write about it.

Good Reads For Your Adventure Travels

FICTION AUDIO BOOKS
Please Note: The books and Audios reviewed here are my honest opinions. I received these unsolicited and free  for promotional purposes, but I simply do not review the ones I do not believe to be review worthy.

WISH YOU WELL by David Baldacci is my favorite of all the Baldacci books I have read and listened to, and it is completely different from his mystery/espionage novels.  In this book, which he wrote for his own children, he depicts the times in which his ancestors lived in the Twentietn Century. Although fictionalized the characters, New York City youngsters, are very real and come alive as they struggle with being virtually orphaned and going to live with their comatose mother and their great grandmother on a poor farm in West Virginia. The children grow through hardships and learn from their very different and very difficult life in this poor but self-sustaining new life.  The story is warm hearted and pulls you along as you yearn to help the children in the lessons of life they learn so well. It is a delightful listen or read.

SING YOU HOME BY JODI PICOULT is a very good listen, although at some points I was inclined to stop listening because of the seeming first approaches to the main issues.Jodi is one of my favorite authors because in all her excellent novels, she deals with very real social concerns of our times and portrays characters coming from all different sides of the issues.  Her novels always have great depth of research and great depth of character and the people who live in her novels act out all kinds of situations that keep the reader/listener breathless in the various situations and the ways in which they deal with them.  This one shows the heartaches of family relationships and these are set against some of the most pressing moral issues of our times and the legalities involved in various difficult court cases.  To tell more of this story would spoil the novel for you, but it is an EXCELLENT and COMPELLING listen/read.  Stick with it all the way to its surprise ending. I was glad I did.
A QUIVER FULL OF ARROWS by Geoffrey Archer is entertaining as you travel.  It is a collection of four short stories by this masterful British story teller.  Each is well                   written with an interesting twist in the development. Most enjoyable listening!
TRADE WINDS  by M.M.Kaye is perhaps one of the best audio novels we have every heard.  It is for a very long trip because it encompasses, in the unabridged version, about 25 hours of fascinating listening.  The writer spent many years in British Colonies and writes about them, weaving a tantalizing love story with terrific characterization into the history and exquisite descriptions of the time and place.  This one is set in Zanzibar during slave trading days in the mid                   1800's. It is beautifully written and read.  It will hold your attention to the very last word and you'll be sorry it is not even longer!  The only problem is that after this listening you will find it difficult to find another audio novel so captivating
LIGHTNING is another of Dean Koontz's really fascinating novels.  This one involves time travel with a Nazi prison guard coming back to save a woman and help in destruction of Hitler.  Fanciful, as are all of Koontz's works.
Pigs In Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver is an excellent listen while traveling through the Western United States.  It is the story of a Native American girl named "Turtle," who performs an heroic act which is covered on Television.  The TV coverage leads to consequences that help her discover her heritage. It is filled with terrific metaphors, as only Kingsolver can do, and has beautiful and unusual descriptions.  It is read by the author.
