MEDIA RELEASE
ACCLAIMED RIVIERA MAYA JAZZ FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES LATIN SALSA & JAZZ CONCERT
TO BE HELD IN TULUM, SEPTEMBER 4, 2010

Araya-Orta Latin Jazz Quartet, Eddie Palmieri and India the princes of the salsa to Perform Free Concert in Tulum

RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO -  - Presented by the acclaimed Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, held annually in November, a free concert featuring a selection of renowned Latin salsa and jazz artists will be held September 4 in Tulum. Artists will include Araya-Orta Latin Jazz Quartet, Eddie Palmieri and India.

Comprised of two pairs of brothers, the Araya-Orta Latin Jazz Quartet will kick off the concert. The Quartet played in Costa Rica's acclaimed International Festival of the Arts in 1991 and earlier this year in March. Specializing in a genre that is constantly evolving, Araya-Orta boasts a repertoire of original songs that combine the rhythms of popular Latin American music with traditional jazz.

A recipient of nine Grammy Awards, Eddie Palmieri's musical career spans more than 50 years. Palmieri is a Puerto Rican pianist, bandleader and musician, best known for combining jazz piano and instrumental solos with Latin rhythms. Currently he is the bandleader of one of the most actively touring salsa and Latin jazz orchestras to-date.

India, known as "The Princess of Salsa," has been nominated for both Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards. Born in Puerto Rico, India's parents relocated to South Bronx in New York City when she was a child. Here she was introduced to urban street music and learned to appreciate the hip hop genre. Today, her music mixes hip hop with Latin pop, salsa and house music. India's most recent album, "Unica," was released June 1, 2010.
Presented by the annual Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, this free salsa and jazz concert will be held at Tulum Central Plaza in the Rivera Maya's beautiful seaside town of Tulum. Located south of Playa del Carmen, Tulum is one of two municipalities that comprise the Riviera Maya.
The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is held annually in November and drew more than 50,000 visitors to the Riviera Maya last year. Renowned jazz artists such as The Manhattan Transfer, George Duke and John MacLaughlin are among a long list of musicians performing at this year's four-day festival. Celebrating its eighth season this year, the Jazz Festival will take place November 25-28. About The Riviera Maya
One of the world's most desirable destinations, the Riviera Maya is situated along the eastern coast of Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo. Nestled between the Caribbean Sea and protected jungles, the Riviera Maya stretches 81 miles, beginning south of the Cancun International Airport in Puerto Morelos and extending through Sian Ka'an, the first established Biosphere Reserve in Mexico and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
