Giving Tree
Stephanie Abrams
I became involved with Libby Wright, a listener in AZ, who won a travel prize on my nationally syndicated radio show, "Travel WITH Stephanie Abrams!" on the Business Talk Radio Network. She is the Exec Director of The Giving Tree Outreach Program which rescues homeless kids from the streets of Tucson. They own and operate Grace Home where, at any one time, 4 to 19 homeless kids live. When she won the prize for herself, a stay in San Francisco, I also found out that the Tucson kids in their care had never stood on a beach and never seen an ocean or played in the waves. Bottom line: I organized a complimentary trip for 12 kids and 4 chaperones complete with 7 passenger vans provided by Thrifty Car Rental, 4 suites for every night of their travels from Tucson to LA and San Diego for 11 nights plus cash generated from an eBay auction of a stay in St. Lucia that I gave them and $1000 from the Morris Family Foundation (endows Sesame Street) to cover road expenses.

In order to continue to help the Giving Tree to do its good works, I have endorsed a cruise on the Inaugural Caribbean voyage of Holland America's newest ship, The Westerdam.
